The best cabin weekends in the Hocking Hills start with the wood already stacked when you pull into the driveway. You walk in, unload, pour a drink, and by the time the sun drops behind the hemlocks you've got a fire going instead of a Google Maps search for "firewood open now near me." Here's how the delivery works.
The short version
You text us. We confirm. We show up at the cabin before your arrival (or during, whichever you prefer) with properly seasoned hardwood, stack it near the fire ring, and collect payment on the spot. The whole process takes about five minutes of your time.
The full breakdown
Step 1 — Text us your cabin details
Send a text to (614) 607-1230 with:
- Cabin address or the name of the rental company + cabin name.
- Arrival date and time. We plan around your check-in.
- Stay length (how many nights).
- Approximate group size. Helps us recommend quantity.
- Any access notes. Some cabin driveways are long or steep — let us know if ours-truck-has-to-go-to-the-back situations apply.
No phone tree, no online form, no signup. Texting is the single fastest way to get an answer and get the wood on its way.
Step 2 — We confirm quantity, timing, and price
Within a few hours during business hours (usually faster), you'll get a return text with:
- Our recommended quantity for your group and stay length.
- Current pricing for that quantity.
- Delivery day and approximate time window (usually a 2-hour window).
- Payment options we accept: cash, Venmo, Zelle, or card.
Approve it or adjust it, and we're locked in. No paperwork.
Step 3 — We deliver to your cabin
We prefer to deliver the morning of your arrival or the day before, so the wood is waiting when you check in. If your cabin rental company restricts pre-arrival access, we schedule for right after your check-in time.
When we arrive, we:
- Drive to the cabin — right up to it when the driveway allows.
- Locate the fire ring and woodshed (or ask you where you'd prefer the wood).
- Stack the splits neatly — not dumped in a pile. Stacked so air can move through, split-side down to shed moisture.
- Sweep up any loose bark that falls off during unloading.
- Text you photos if you're not on-site when we deliver.
The stacking matters. A dumped pile holds moisture, attracts bugs, and is a pain to use. A proper stack — two or three splits wide, tucked against a wall or under an eave — stays dry all weekend and is easy to grab from in the dark.
A good firewood delivery is one you forget about five minutes after it arrives — because everything's where it should be and the wood just works.
Step 4 — Payment on delivery
We accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, and cards. Whichever you prefer, let us know when you're confirming the order and we'll have the right setup on hand. Payment happens when the wood is stacked — not before.
Step 5 — Restock if you need more
Run low mid-stay? Text the same number. We can usually do same-day or next-day restocks within our free delivery area, depending on our schedule. This is especially useful for groups that realize halfway through a weekend that their fires are going longer than planned.
Our service area
Free delivery covers:
- Rockbridge — our home base. Most cabins in this area are a short drive for us.
- Logan — the main town of Hocking County. Full coverage.
- Sugar Grove — northern edge of the Hocking Hills region.
- Cabins within ~15 minutes of any of those three towns — this includes most of the core cabin-rental zones around the state park.
Outside that radius (Laurelville, South Bloomingville, further reaches of Hocking County), we can often still deliver with a small fee based on distance. For cabins in Athens or Vinton County, case-by-case — text us with the location and we'll let you know.
When to schedule
The honest answer: as soon as you book the cabin. Firewood delivery isn't time-sensitive in the way a rental car is, but during peak season (October, November, and busy summer weekends) our schedule fills up. A few days of lead time is plenty; a week is comfortable.
If you're booking last-minute, we can often still fit in same-day or next-day delivery during the week. Peak weekend same-day is harder but not impossible — always worth a text to check.
Common questions about delivery
Do I need to be at the cabin when you deliver?
No. Most of our deliveries happen before guests check in. We stack the wood, take a quick photo, and text it to you so you know exactly where to find it when you arrive.
What if the cabin has a locked gate or code?
Let us know when you're confirming the order. If there's an access code, share it through text. If it's a physical lock, we'll coordinate delivery timing so someone can let us through.
What if I underestimate how much I need?
Text us. We can usually do a same-day or next-day restock within our service area, especially for weekend stays. The only thing worse than running out of wood is running out of wood at 9 PM with no backup plan.
Can you deliver to a campground site?
Yes, for Hocking Hills State Park sites and most private campgrounds in the area. We'll deliver to the site itself if vehicle access allows, or to a nearby parking area you can wheelbarrow from. Let us know the site number when you order.
What about delivery to Airbnbs and VRBOs?
Same process as any other rental. Just send us the address — most short-term rental platforms mask exact addresses until check-in, so you may need to grab it from your confirmation email.
Do you deliver year-round?
Yes. Our service runs year-round, though demand is obviously higher in fall and winter. Spring and summer deliveries (for fire-pit season and cooking fires) are still common and often booked with shorter lead times.
Why a delivery service beats DIY pickup
The math is simple. If you're driving into the Hocking Hills from Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, or anywhere else, stopping to buy wood on the way means:
- 20–30 minutes of detour at a grocery store or farm stand.
- Loading bundles into a car trunk full of coolers and bags.
- Cleaning wood chips and bark out of your trunk on Sunday.
- Hoping the bundles you grabbed are actually seasoned (often they aren't).
Versus: five minutes of texting, zero detour, guaranteed-quality wood, and the whole thing's handled before you arrive. The delivery fee is zero within our service area, so the only question is whether you'd rather spend that half-hour on your trip or on the wood.
