Three towns form the core of cabin country in the Hocking Hills: Logan, the county seat; Rockbridge, the smaller village where the natural arch and most of the state park's southern access points live; and Sugar Grove, tucked up near the northern edge. We deliver seasoned firewood to all three, free of charge, and this guide walks through what that looks like in each area.
What we mean by "seasoned"
Before we get to the towns, the word that matters most: seasoned. In the firewood world, that word has a specific meaning — the wood has been split and stored, under cover, for long enough that its internal moisture has dropped below about 20%. In practice, that's at least 6–12 months of proper storage.
Green (unseasoned) wood is a disaster at a cabin. It smokes heavily, doesn't produce real heat, and ruins the evening. Seasoned wood lights with one match, burns clean, and makes the coals you need for s'mores and for the slow late-night portion of the fire.
Every split we deliver has been seasoned for 12 months minimum, and most of our current stock is closer to 18–24 months. That's the whole foundation of what we do. If you want the long version, read Seasoned vs. Green Firewood.
Logan, Ohio — deliveries
Logan is the largest town in Hocking County and the central commercial hub for the region. It's where most visitors stop for groceries and supplies on their way to their cabins, and it's also home to a significant number of permanent residences, Airbnbs, and vacation rentals.
We deliver across Logan and the surrounding areas, including:
- Downtown Logan and the residential streets around it.
- Cabin rentals along Route 664 south of town toward Old Man's Cave.
- Properties on Route 374 (the scenic connector through the state park area).
- Rentals along Big Pine Road and the hollows in the broader area.
- Homes and short-term rentals in the Hide-A-Way Hills community (where allowed by the community association).
Most Logan deliveries are completed the same day or next day during non-peak periods. In October and November — our busiest months — 2–3 days of lead time makes scheduling smoother.
Rockbridge, Ohio — deliveries
Rockbridge is our home village. It's the smaller town just south of Logan on Route 33, named for the Rockbridge State Nature Preserve — the largest natural arch in Ohio, which sits in the woods just outside the village proper.
If your cabin is in or near Rockbridge, you're about as central to our operation as you can get. Deliveries here are usually same-day, and we know most of the cabin rental properties in the area by name. Coverage includes:
- Downtown Rockbridge (limited — it's a small village).
- Cabin rentals along Dalton Road, Mingo Road, and the surrounding rural routes.
- Properties north of Rockbridge toward Hocking Hills State Park.
- Rentals in the area between Rockbridge and Logan.
- Homes along the Hocking River corridor.
For more on the village itself — its history, the arch, what's worth seeing — Rockbridge Ohio is our long-form local reference.
Sugar Grove, Ohio — deliveries
Sugar Grove sits at the northern edge of our delivery zone, about 20 minutes north of Logan along Route 33. It's a smaller village than either Logan or Rockbridge, but it's home to a cluster of cabin rentals and private residences that we service regularly.
Coverage includes:
- Downtown Sugar Grove.
- Properties along Stout Road and the surrounding rural stretches.
- Cabins in the broader Clear Creek Valley area (many of which technically share zip codes with Sugar Grove).
- Rentals off Route 33 between Sugar Grove and the state park.
Sugar Grove deliveries take a little more coordination than the closer towns — we're driving further, so we try to batch Sugar Grove stops for specific days when possible. Give us 2–3 days of notice if you can.
What's included in every delivery
Regardless of which of the three towns you're in, every order includes:
- Properly seasoned hardwood splits — primarily oak, hickory, and maple, with occasional cherry and ash depending on current stock.
- Local sourcing — all wood cut from Hocking County and adjacent counties, compliant with Ohio's emerald ash borer transport restrictions.
- Proper stacking at the delivery site. We don't dump — we stack where you want it, near the fire ring or in the woodshed, split-side down for moisture shedding.
- Photo confirmation via text when you're not on-site.
- Restock availability during your stay, if you burn through faster than expected.
Comparison: all three town deliveries
| Town | Free Delivery | Typical Lead Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logan | Yes | Same-day to 24hr | Our largest coverage zone — fastest turnaround |
| Rockbridge | Yes | Same-day | Home base — quickest response |
| Sugar Grove | Yes | 1–3 days | Further drive — batched when possible |
What about other towns nearby?
Outside the core three, we can often still help:
- Laurelville — east of Rockbridge, in Hocking County. Usually deliverable with a small fee depending on the specific address.
- South Bloomingville — south of the state park. Case-by-case; sometimes included depending on day's route.
- Nelsonville — over in Athens County, but close enough that we can sometimes cover it. Small fee likely. Nelsonville Ohio has more on the area.
- Haydenville, Murray City, Carbon Hill — smaller villages in the broader area, all potentially deliverable with advance notice.
If you're in any of those, text us with your specific address and stay dates and we'll give you a straight answer.
Why local sourcing matters
This part's non-negotiable: all our wood comes from Hocking County and adjacent counties. The reason is Ohio's emerald ash borer transport restrictions — an invasive beetle that kills ash trees, travels in firewood, and has devastated tens of millions of Ohio's ash trees since the mid-2000s.
The rule for the whole region is: buy local, or buy USDA-certified heat-treated. Moving firewood more than about 50 miles from where it was cut risks spreading the infestation. We stay well inside that radius for every source we buy from, and that's part of what "Hocking Hills Firewood" actually means — wood from the hills, not wood from Cleveland or Indianapolis badged with a local name.
Local wood burns cleaner, costs less to transport, and doesn't carry the beetles that are killing the forests around you. It's not complicated.
Getting started
Whether you're in Logan, Rockbridge, Sugar Grove, or the cabin country in between, the order process is the same:
- Text (614) 607-1230 with your cabin or home address, stay dates, and rough group size.
- We confirm quantity, timing, and price within a few hours.
- We deliver and stack before your arrival (or when you specify).
- You pay on delivery — cash, Venmo, Zelle, or card.
That's the whole process. For more on how the delivery itself works, see Firewood Delivery in the Hocking Hills. For sizing options and what each volume actually holds, Hocking Hills Firewood for Sale breaks it all down.
